Founder, Publisher & Creative Director

From Scratch Magazine

From Scratch Magazine was a publication I founded and led from concept through execution, driven by a desire to create something thoughtful, grounded, and genuinely useful for modern homesteaders and makers.

The magazine focused on sustainable living, backyard farming, food, homeschooling, and handmade life. Each issue blended practical guidance with storytelling, photography, and design that felt warm, accessible, and honest. This was not a trend-driven project. It was built around community, values, and a slower, more intentional way of living.

As founder and publisher, I oversaw every aspect of the magazine, including editorial direction, brand identity, layout and design, contributor development, advertising partnerships, and production. From visual storytelling to long-form content, the publication reflected my creative vision from start to finish.

A founder-led media brand built to scale without losing its sense of community.

Why This Work Matters

Founding From Scratch Magazine shaped how I approach creative leadership. It required vision, consistency, and the ability to carry an idea from the earliest stages through long-term execution. It taught me how to balance creativity with structure, storytelling with logistics, and aesthetics with purpose.

That experience continues to inform how I build brands, guide content strategy, and lead creative projects today.

From Concept to Execution. From Vision to Community.

Building a brand from the ground up takes more than design. It calls for editorial vision, strategic consistency, and the ability to turn an idea into something people trust and champion. If you’re founding something or relaunching with intention, I’d love to hear what you’re creating.
